This guide makes it simple to choose the correct size for any of our upcycled luxury Apple Watch bands. All Himelhoch’s bands use standard Apple Watch connectors and are compatible with every Apple Watch model—from Series 1 through the newest releases, including SE and Ultra.
Which Band Size Do You Need?
Your correct size depends on the Apple Watch case size you own—not your wrist measurement. Apple Watch cases fall into three main groups. Match your watch to the band size shown below:
| Apple Watch Case Size | Correct Band Size |
|---|---|
| 38mm / 40mm / 41mm | Small |
| 42mm / 44mm / 45mm / 46mm | Large |
| 49mm (Apple Watch Ultra / Ultra 2) | Ultra |
If you’re unsure of your Apple Watch size, turn your watch over—your case size is engraved on the back around the sensor ring.
Band Width (Strap Width) Options
In addition to case-size compatibility, you can choose the strap width that feels best on your wrist. This is the width of the band itself and is a style preference—compatibility is still determined by your Apple Watch case size.
- Standard width (most bands): approximately 22 mm wide.
- XL width (by request): approximately 24 mm wide, very close to 15/16 inch (~23.8 mm)—similar to the width of Apple’s Milanese Loop and Sport Loop.
The 22 mm width offers a balanced, everyday profile on all case sizes. Some customers—especially Apple Watch Ultra wearers—prefer the slightly wider 24 mm strap for a bolder look. If you would like the XL 24 mm width, simply leave a note at checkout or contact us after placing your order and we’ll customize your band accordingly.
Wrist Size & Fit Notes
Because our bands are handcrafted from authentic designer materials reclaimed from pre-owned luxury goods, each band is produced in a standard, all-purpose strap length. Multiple adjustment holes allow for a comfortable fit across a wide range of wrist sizes.
Typical comfort range:
- Small Band: Ideally suited for smaller to average wrists.
- Large Band: Best for average to larger wrists.
- Ultra Band: Designed to balance the larger 49mm Ultra case on a wide range of wrist sizes.
If you prefer a tighter or looser fit, simply adjust using the buckle holes as you would with any traditional leather strap.
How to Measure Your Wrist
You don’t need your wrist measurement to select a band size, but it can help you choose your ideal fit. Here’s how to measure:
- Wrap a soft measuring tape around your wrist where the watch normally sits.
- If you don’t have a tape, wrap a strip of paper around your wrist and measure the length with a ruler.
- Compare your wrist measurement to the range of adjustment holes on your band after purchase.
All Himelhoch’s bands include multiple buckle holes to accommodate narrower and broader wrists comfortably.
Fit Considerations for Upcycled Luxury Materials
Our bands are handcrafted from authentic designer materials reclaimed from pre-owned goods, paired with high-quality leather backings. These materials are durable and structured, softening slightly with regular wear. This creates a personalized, comfortable fit over time without stretching or warping.
Each band is carefully inspected for consistency and fit before leaving our workshop.

FAQ
How do I know if Small or Large is right for me?
Match your Apple Watch case size to the table above. Wrist size does not determine band size—Apple Watch case size does.
What is the width of the band?
Our classic single-loop straps are approximately 22 mm wide. We can also craft an XL 24 mm version by request. If you prefer the wider XL profile, leave a note at checkout or contact us after ordering.
Will the band soften over time?
Yes. Because our bands are made from reclaimed designer materials and leather, they soften with wear, developing a comfortable and natural curve.
Are Ultra bands only for the 49mm Ultra?
Yes. The 49mm case requires a dedicated connector size, so only the Ultra band fits properly. You may still choose between the standard 22 mm strap width or the wider 24 mm XL version.
Can I use a Small band on a 44mm watch?
No. The connector widths differ. Always choose the band designed for your Apple Watch case size group.
Is the band length adjustable?
Yes. Each band includes multiple buckle holes, allowing flexible sizing for a wide range of wrists.
