Materials & Details

  • Material: 18kt gold-plated upcycled hammered brass.
  • Size: Length from top of hook to bottom is 55 mm; width is 19 mm.
  • We use locally salvaged scrap metal, which is melted down into brass sheets and repurposed for our jewelry pieces using a hammered brass technique. Each piece is gold-plated and coated with a water-based sealant to help prevent oxidation.
  • Due to the handmade nature, slight variations may occur from piece to piece. Please note that our Kibera collection bears the unique marks of our artisans who craft these pieces in the slums, such as minor nicks and imperfections. These marks showcase the authenticity and craftsmanship of each piece. Embrace the individuality and celebrate the human touch that makes each creation a one-of-a-kind expression of art and resilience.

This piece was designed in Canada and handmade by master artisans in one of the world’s largest slums. This collection empowers our artisans to break the cycle of generational poverty by offering a viable income through their craft. It also helps keep their city clean through the upcycling of local scrap metal. Brass can be infinitely recycled without diminishing its composition, making it one of the most sustainable metals.

About Truvai

Discover Truvai: The Designer Collection at Himelhoch's

Truvai, derived from the French word "trouvaille" meaning a lucky find, captures the essence of serendipitous beauty in each piece of jewelry. Founded in 2021 by Jenny Lillian, a mother of three, Truvai is a woman-owned Canadian brand that emphasizes slow fashion and positive social impact. Each piece is handcrafted in micro batches using traditional techniques and locally sourced, often recycled or upcycled, materials. Jenny collaborates with global artisans, from Vietnam to North Africa, ensuring ethical practices and supporting small-scale miners and farmers. Truvai celebrates the magic of cultural connections, creating timeless, thoughtfully designed jewelry that empowers artisans and honors their stories.
